you can perform instant searches on either the text
content of your files or the file names and the search
and the results are delivered in 1 second! You can
then click on each result to preview it or you can
open and work on it as normal or you can perform the
usual Windows Explorer functions on the files (like:
Send via Email, Copy, Delete, Print etc.).
DocSmart will find and you can preview
all your files instantly! DocSmart has the ability
to search the entire
text contents (and of course the file name) of practically
all existing types of files (see below for fuller
details), including:
Microsoft and Star Office, CAD,
Graphics, Scanned Paper (via OCR), Web pages, Archives,
Multimedia and many others (see below for fuller list).
Every search you do, no matter how
many 100's of 1000's of files you may have and no matter where
they are, will be completed in 1 second.
After you have run a search you can
immediately preview the file in the viewing window
(with full screen option) and open the document with
the original application. You can also run all the
standard Windows Explorer functions on the found files i.e.
Send as an Email Attachment, Copy, Delete, Print,
Properties etc.
You can now have total confidence that any search you
do will be looking through the entire contents
of all your files across all your local and networked PC's
hard drives to find exactly what you are looking for.

Points to Note on the Indexing of Documents
DocSmart has the capability to index the file name and the text
contents of ANY file type; however indexing the content
(but NOT the file name) of some file types is sometimes
restricted by the owner of that file type and so can only
be indexed by DocSmart after installing a specific filter
for that particular file type. These filters are called
ifilters and can be obtained from the company or
organisation that owns the file format or from Versis.
Ifilters are available for almost every file type
available. Ifilters are very quick and simple to install
and once installed DocSmart will be able to index the
contents of that file type and you will then be able to
search, retrieve, preview and then work on those files
from DocSmart.
Versis has already written or pre-installed many ifilters into
DocSmart for most file types but
you may wish to install others depending on the type of
documents that you wish to index. Some ifilters are free
and some are not; please contact Versis if you need a
specific ifilter:

DocSmart will index ALL file names no matter what the file type is.
The shipped version of DocSmart will index the entire text contents
of files used in Microsoft Office, General Word
Processors, Scanning, Web, Multimedia, Software
Development Suits, Graphics and some CAD files, for example:
